Soldering

Santa was really sweet this year, not only was I lucky enough to receive Sally Jean's new book Pretty Little Things but also a soldering iron & supplies to get me started........guess I must have been a good girl! LOL
Here are my first attempts, a little rough around the edges but as they say, practice practice practice!

Recycling

This was an old gold glitter covered ornament that I revamped by covering it with white paint & simply added a brass frame with a Paper Whimsy image & wove a little torn muslin around the central frame to soften the edges.

It's been a while .....

....since my last post, so to make up for it here are a few things I've been upto during December.
The above collage is for the December page for a Paper Traders calender....check it out, the rest of the artwork is fabulous and Charlene, the photoshop pro. did an outstanding cover! This group really has some amazing artists who work in all types of media so there's always something new to learn.

Sami culture

Well here is my final spread for the Culture AB round robin with the Altered Art Europe group. It has been quite enlightening, researching & learning a little about each culture throughout this project.
For Maria's book I was thinking snow....hence all the white layered gesso & tissue, which you can't really see here as white never scans brilliantly, I also added Sami symbols & a transparency depicting a Sami family circa 1800 & finished off the edges with some red fibre & ink.

Now it's just a matter of waiting for my Native American book to return home filled with lots of great artwork from the other girls.

Another 4x4

I'm quite enjoying working on this size format for a change. This little Christmas Fairy sits before an old clock face image set on a backgound of seasonal decorative paper. Her poinsettia wings happened quite by accident..... I was attempting to fill in the foreground with a bit of red & whilst placing the petals suddenly realised they looked like wings.........isn't it just great when this sort of thing happens & I'm sure it wouldn't have worked out had I planned it this way!

The "Dream" Challenge

.......to create a 4x4 collage using all the Paper Whimsy images provided by Gale. These included a hand, small purple door, water lilies with leaves, a narrow border of cloud filled sky, a transparency of an antique chair & the most beautiful blue butterfly.

The "Result"

and here is the final outcome....not an easy task fitting in all those images! The background is stamping on black gesso, I added the fish, the little quote at the bottom & brass heart embellishments. Thanks to Greta for the gift of these gorgeous little hearts.

My Muse has finally returned.....

after having gone AWOL for over a month! It's feels so good to be creating again and here's my next contribution to the Culture RR I'm currently participating in.....

Anke chose the Egyptian Culture for her book & I decided to do a spread about the Blue Nile Lily. Background is tinted gesso, stamping then white gesso over the top, text is printed on papyrus, the 2 lilies are painted with H2O's,they have a marvellous shimmer, which as usual doesn't show up on the scan and the edge of the page is embellished with metallic fibre, beads & charm.

ATC Tag swap

Have finally managed to make some tag ATC's for a Paper Traders swap. Even though I'm hosting this swap, you would have thought I'd have loads of ideas lined up....not the case, so this is my final attempt ........

Background is stipled Lumieres in gold & bronze then stamped with Stampers Anonymous honeycomb stamp. The bees were stamped, painted with H2O's, cut out & adhered to the card as well as a French bee definition. The edge of the card was finished with a copper leafing pen.

Unfortunately the shimmer of the metallic background & H2O's just doesn't scan well.

1st post

Well here I am creating a blog....it's taken me long enough, as soon as I get the hang of this, I'll post some artwork.
